Last month’s home opener at Progressive Field showcased more than a win for the Cleveland Guardians. It was a clear and positive visual of the completion of the first phase of Progressive Field upgrades by members of area building trades.
If you attended the 2024 home opener at Progressive Field, you either sat in or noticed one of more than 9,000 new navy blue seats in most of the lower bowl. More than 9,000 of the original green seats had to be unbolted, and the new ones properly bolted. The upper deck now features new concession stands, including a grab-and-go beer station. A new commissary building on E. 9th was constructed, allowing more food options for fans. These projects were completed on a tight timeline during the Guardians’ offseason by area construction workers, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople.
Further renovations at Progressive Field, including creating Terrace Garden & Hall Area are ongoing in 2024, with completion by the start of the 2025 season. The ongoing seat replacements, will begin following the last home game of the 2024 season. Trained and skilled tradespeople are needed for these upgrades, as well as other projects throughout Cleveland and Northeast Ohio of various sizes and costs. While CLE is proud of its hometown MLB team and its homefield, the iconic Progressive Field, more new builds, renovations, and repairs are in process or on deck in Northeast Ohio.
The services provided by skilled tradespeople are not going out of style or function anytime soon. From complex construction management to road and bridge repairs to basic plumbing and electrical work in a home or commercial building, skilled trade contractors are valuable. We depend on these workers. They depend on appropriate insurance to get jobs and protect their assets. Like any other business, the cheapest deal is not necessarily the best deal.
