Your Pet, Your Choice
Read about pet insurance protection for your beloved pet dogs and cats.

Discover two pet insurance coverage options available to owners of pet dogs and cats.
Mention of first-born or oldest usually prompts a mental image of a human being. If you aren’t the first-born or oldest in your family, an older brother or sister comes to mind. The picture is changing in many households following the baby boomers. Instead of or before expanding the family with a child, an eye-catching number of adult Gen Xer’s, Millennial’s, and Gen Zer’s are going all-in with a pet dog or cat. More and more, the outpouring of attention typically received by the first-born or oldest child in a household is devoted to a pet.
Pet dogs and cats are regarded as family members by many pet owners. In addition to loving, feeding, and cleaning up after their dogs/cats, there is concern for the general health and well-being of the animal. While the first pet policy in the U.S. was issued in 1982, notable growth in the market for dog and cat pet insurance has occurred more recently. It’s a good bet that growth tracks with the priority bestowed on pet dogs and cats by younger generation owners, who are re-drawing the boundaries of disposable income to suit changing lifestyles.
Pet insurance for your dog or cat is somewhat similar to health insurance for a person. In broad terms, pet insurance applies to medical treatment for the covered dog or cat. However, there is no coverage for pre-existing conditions. Also, a waiting period usually applies.
