Learn fundamental truths about COVID-19 and the impact on church re-openingsCopy of may 28
Read rhythm to help your church adapt to COVID-19’s changing rhythms.

COVID-19 headlines. Government guidelines. Vaccine timelines. Churches, like everyone else, are struggling to make sense of all these “lines.” Today, June 1, 2020, is as good a time as any for your church to cut through competing lines and focus on the basics:

1. COVID-19 is real.
2. COVID-19 is a global pandemic.
3. COVID-19 has no boundaries.
4. We must all be mindful of our activity in the midst of COVID-19.
5. Your church’s decision about how and when to reopen is a big one and will depend on many factors, internal and external.
6. Ultimately, decisions and their consequences belong to the church and its leadership.
7. Be prayerful, be wise, be guided by common sense.

As your church discerns the path forward, the following simple lines of poetry may be helpful in the coming days, weeks, and months.

COVID-19
Remains on the scene.
Exercise care
Here, there, ev’rywhere.

Love thy neighbor
Be kind, belabor
Six feet apart
Make space a new art.

Lessen the spread
Of corona dread
Wear a face mask
It’s not much to ask.

Lockdown or not
This is what we’ve got.
Use common sense
It’s your best defense.

Safety is key
Plan accordingly.
Haphazard moves
Disaster behooves

Communicate
How you’ll congregate.
Stick to your rules
Be hardy as mules!

Voice what will change
Some things rearrange.
Sing what you say
Stow hymnals away.

Limit your size
Clean and sanitize.
Train your vision
On wise decision.

Worship and pray
Both in a safe way.
Love thy neighbor
Together, labor.
